Planning a trip to Cape Town in South Africa? Don’t leave without hiking up Table Mountain for fantastic views of the city.
Most travellers opt for Platteklip Gorge – a faily straightforward climb that is well sign posted and easily accessible. It takes around 2 hours to negotiate the rocky paths and slippery trails so take plenty of water and sunscreen if the weather’s good.
Once you’re at the top take time to enjoy the rugged landscape, twinkling ocean and sprawling mass of the city 1000m below. Feeling brave? Try abseiling 112m off the cliff edge with Abseil Africa (pictured below). Prices cost from 595 ZAR (£53).
Don’t fancy the hike back down? Take the cable car (80 ZAR each way) and you’ll be back down in 5 minutes flat!
