Koh Rong is Cambodia’s best-kept secret. A paradise island where backpackers get stuck for days, weeks and even months.

Beautiful, palm-fringed beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, the water is turquoise blue and the bars and cafes serve up fresh fish and 50 cent beers

There are no cars, bikes or roads on the island. Just beaches, jungle trails and a small cluster of restaurants and backpacker digs.

There was no wifi on the island for the entire lenth of our stay, which is actually what makes this place so unique. People actually talk to each other! Not sit on their phones!

Koh Rong beach, Cambodia - PHOTO - Fabulous Travel GuideIt’s a far cry from the stifling heat of Phnom Penn or the hectic Full Moon Parties in Koh Samui, and somewhere you could while away days, weeks and even months.

But it won’t stay like this long! Visit now before it becomes overrun with tourists.

What to do on Koh Rong

– Go on the party boat ($8) and visit Long Beach, go snorkelling and even try your hand at fishing.

– Watch the sunset while chowing down on your catch and then go see the glowing planktan.

– Go to Sky Bar and play a round of pool while taking in the views of Koh Rong. Twilight is a pretty spectacular time to get there.

– Play beach volleyball (near Monkey Island).
