Want to see wild orang-utans, proboscis monkeys and rare birds in Borneo? Nature Lodge Kinabatangan offers an unmissable three-day safari package that showcases the best of Borneo’s wildlife.
Visitors can enjoy daily river cruises (6am and 4pm) to spot macaques, 8 species of hornbill, kingfishers, langurs, slow loris and even crocodiles.
The guides are fantastic: full of enthusiasm and eager to share their knowledge. We were lucky enough to see wild orang-utans on our morning boat ride, which would have been near impossible without a guide!
We also saw probiscis monkeys leaping through the trees, families of monkeys playing on the riverbanks and a gorgeous sunset to round off the day.
The next day we did a trek to Ox-bo Lake and a guided night walk (15 ringgit) to see sleeping birds, civit cats and insects.
The lodge, which is comprised of several wooden bungalows and a large dorm, is located right on the banks of the Kinabatangan river.
The superior chalets are particularly nice, with little balconies overlooking the rainforest. It’s a beautiful spot, surrounded by dense forest, rustling trees and singing birds.
How to book a Kinabatangan safari
A 3 day/2 night package costs 550 ringgit per person (superior chalet).
