Apo Island is the place to go if you want to dive and snorkel with turtles in the Philippines.

This tiny volcanic island, off the coast of Negros, is home the Apo Island Marine Reserve and Fish Sanctuary, and is teaming with sealife, huge turtles and untouched coral.

Diving is super cheap: just 1,300 pesos per dive (less if you book multiple dives). We highly recommend Mario’s Scuba Diving & Homestay (and also their accommodation). The dive master was full of enthusiasm and took us to some great spots.

Not into diving? The easiest way to see the turtles is to wade out into the ocean and stick your head under!

Alternatively you can hire a snorkel (100 pesos) and a boat for the day (from 600 pesos). Too easy.
