Looking for cheap accommodation in Sabang, Philippines? Tribal Restaurant & Lodge is by far the best-value option for backpackers.

Simple bungalows with fan are just 600 pesos per night and include an Americano breakfast of eggs, toast, fruit and coffee.

There’s an ensuite bathroom with bucket-flush toilet and a cold shower. It’s basic and there’s not much ventilation in the bathroom, but the location is spot-on.

It’s 5 meters from the beach so you can hear the roar of the ocean as you sit out on the balcony. Room 6 has the best views so request that if it’s free!

Electricity only runs from 6pm-10pm, which means sleeping without a fan, but that’s the trade-off for such cheap accommodation. And it’s also the case for most places in Sabang.

Looking for good places to eat? Before you head off down the beach to eat, don’t! Have dinner here! The owners are fantastic cooks. Try the fish kinilaw (ceviche), spicy squid or wild boar. They buy the produce fresh from the market, so get your order in and prepare for a feast.

How to get to Tribal Lodge

The bus will drop you off at the port (where boats leave for the Underground River) so turn right onto the beach and walk down past the Sheridan Hotel for about 10 minutes until you come to Tribal Lodge.
