1. Visit an abandoned NSA spy station

2. Tour Berlin’s secret prison

Stasi Prison, in former East Berlin, was used to kidnap and torture political prisoners who would not conform Soviet dictatorship. Now you can take a tour of this grim prison, complete with underground cells, padded rooms and interrogation offices.

3. Cycle around Tiergarden

Hire a bike (from 9 euros per day) and explore the beautiful Tiergarten in central Berlin. There are plenty of nice picnic spots by the river and some great bike trails to keep you occupied all day.

4. Do karaoke in front of hundreds of people

Sundays aren’t complete without a visit to Mauerpark’s flea market in Brunnenviertel. Head over to the amphitheatre to watch – or perform – at the weekly karaoke sessions in front of hundreds of people.

5. Drink sundowners on top of a carpark

Klunkerkranich rooftop bar is hidden away on top of a department store carpark in Neukölln. Head there at sunset for some spectacular views of Berlin.

6. Explore underground bunkers used in WW2

7. Forget Berghain – go to Griessmuhle

Berghain is notoriously difficult to get into. Instead, go to Griessmuhle, Berlin’s coolest outdoor party. Think abandoned warehouse meets treehouse and you’ll get the idea.
