Australia is blessed with some of the best beaches in the world, but our favourite HAS to be Squeaky Beach in Wilson’s Prom, Victoria.
It’s not your traditional palm-fringed beach. The coastline is wild and rugged. Huge granite boulders sparkle in the sunlight and mountains loom large in the distance. Best off all, the sand actually squeaks as you walk on it.
It’s so dramatic that when you’re swimming out at sea and turn to look back at the beach, it looks like something out of Jurassic Park. And that’s what makes this place so unique.
Tidal River to Squeaky Beach Track
A popular way to get to Squeaky Beach is via a popular coast walk from Tidal River campsite, where most guests stay.
Starting at the Tidal River footbridge, this popular 2.1km walk offers spectacular coastal views as it climbs up and over the headland that separates Norman and Leonard Bays and descends to Squeaky Beach.
